Hornby BR 4-6-0 'Thorpe Hall' B17/2 Class R2921
Wheel Configuration: 4-6-0
Motor: 5 Pole Skew Wound.
A Brief History
Construction of the 4-6-0 Sandringham class began in 1928, our loco emerging from Darlington Works in 1933, but later rebuilt with B1 type boiler and re-classified B 17/6. Many were named after country houses, and the name of our loco gave a clue as to where the class worked, as Thorpe was very much a Danish name indicating a part of Britain where the Danish Vikings settled. They were elegant engines, appearing principally on light passenger work across East Anglia and as far north as Hull. By 1960 they had disappeared as had many of the routes over which they worked.
